Sicily Island will host the Ouachita Christian School Eagles this week in the LHSAA District 2-1A opener for both teams.
Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. Friday.
The Tigers (2-1) racked up more than 550 yards of total offense as they took care of LaSalle last week, 52-22. The win vaulted them up to No. 12 in this week’s Class 1A power rankings.
“We were able to run the ball well,” Tigers head coach Donald Money said. “And, the defense did real well against LaSalle. They held their own. LaSalle’s a big team.
“Ouachita Christian is a big team, too. They’ve got a lot of size and they’re a good program. We’ve got our hands full, but we’ve got everyone healthy.”
Money added that there were a few things that need improving on both sides of the ball.
“We had three fumbles and lost one of them. Our penalties were low, but we had one touchdown called back because of hitting a defenseless player,” he said. “We still need to improve on tackling.”
Money was thrilled that his team put up so many points and said the Tigers are capable of doing it again, yet the Eagles are No. 5 in the current Division IV power ratings.
“Ouachita Christian is another big team that’s capable of some explosive offense,” Money said.
