Franklin County struggles, loses to Jefferson Davis County

The Jefferson Davis County Jaguars scored all of their points in the first half as the No. 4 team in all of MHSAA Class 3A cruised to a 36-0 win over the Franklin County High School Bulldogs Friday night.
Malik Shorts scored on a 61-yard punt return in the first quarter and a 52-yard run in the second quarter as Jefferson Davis County (5-1) gained a 21-0 lead. The Jaguars’ special teams also recorded a safety after the ball went out of the end zone on a blocked punt.
It was a rough game all around for Franklin County. The Bulldogs had just two first downs and were held to minus-4 yards of total offense. Their defense, meanwhile, gave up 239 on the ground and 319 yards of total offense. The one bright spot was Dominique White, who had eight tackles and two fumble recoveries.
Franklin County (0-6) plays at Wilkinson County at 7 p.m. next Friday.
