NATCHEZ — Being a guy has never been easy, but in today’s world, men are in trouble more than ever.
But a local church group believes hope may be found at an upcoming fellowship aimed specifically at encouraging area men
The men’s fellowship group at Parkway Baptist Church will host a men’s conference Oct. 6 to 7 in the church fellowship hall located at 117 Seargent S. Prentiss Drive in Natchez.
Minister of Education Rajesh Behara said this year’s conference for men is titled, “Helping Men Win.”
The two main speakers for the conference are Keith Bogss, founder of Real Momentum Ministries, and Lane Gordon, another member of the group.
As founder of Real Momentum Ministries, Boggs said he uses his background in marketing and his pastoral ministry experience and launched the organization to help men become unleashed and unhindered for the glory of God.
Boggs started RMM to engage men and equip churches with the tools needed to transform men of all ages.
“The devil has a much more effective plan to reach men than most churches and that needs to change,” Boggs said.
In its first four years, the group has regional directors in the Midwest, Southeast and the Dominican Republic. They have also partnered with other organizations such as the National Coalition of Ministries to Men, Fatherhood CoMission, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Iron Sharpens Iron and OneCry.
Behara said statistics show that men in today’s society struggle to balance work and home life. Pornography, divorce and other issues add to the struggle. He said men need help, and that is why the church is holding the conference.
“We are hosting this conference for the men in our community,” Behara said. “This is the first conference of its kind, and we hope to have more of these events in the future.”
“The conference is free and open to men in the community,” Behara said. “We will start at 5:30 p.m. on Oct. 6 and 8:30 a.m. on Oct. 7.”
