ZACHARY, La. — The Adams County Christian School Lady Rebels placed second in the MAIS-AAA South State Tournament Monday after falling to Silliman Institute, 9-1.
ACCS worked its way back the winner’s bracket and South State title game after a win over Riverfield Academy earlier in the afternoon, 9-0.
The Lady Rebels accumulated 10 hits in the victory, led by Shelby Mason, who batted 3-for-4 with three RBIs and two runs scored.
Marlee Magee and Lexie Emanuel each added two hits in the win.
“We came out hot, and the bats were on fire,” ACCS coach Tate Lipscomb said. “We played flawless softball.”
Lipscomb said the loss to Silliman was less perfect.
“We left the bases loaded twice,” he said. “That really hurts and doesn’t help anything.”
ACCS also ended with four errors in the loss.
Moving forward, the Lady Rebels (20-8) will be seeded No. 2 in the state tournament beginning Saturday in Magee. They will face Lee Academy in their first game.
“We can’t be too upset. We came out in the top two of 12 teams in the south,” Lipscomb said.
