Burgess rushes for three scores in WCCA’s first victory this season

FARMERVILLE, La. — Hunter Burgess had 15 carries for 152 yards and three total touchdowns as the Wilkinson County Christian Academy Rams defeated the Union Christian Academy Lions 34-21 Friday night in an MAIS District 3-A game.
After Union Christian Academy scored a touchdown just past the midway point of the fourth quarter to make it a one-possession game, Burgess scored on a one-yard run with 1:26 left to seal WCCA’s first win of the season and Mac Newcomb’s first win as Rams head coach.
Burgess also scored on a 52-yard run early in the first quarter and a 27-yard pass from D’mario Weathersby late in the third quarter.
WCCA (1-6, 1-0) steps out of district play when it hits the road to take on Clinton Christian Academy at 7 p.m. next Friday.
