CLINTON, La. — Despite being out-gained by over 100 yards, the Centreville Academy Tigers managed to hold on for a 22-20 win over the Silliman Institute Wildcats Friday night.
Stone Reynolds had 17 carries for 100 yards, two touchdowns and what proved to be the game-winning 2-point conversion run after Jace DeLee’s 69-yard touchdown pass to Wyatt Brabham with 16 seconds left in the third quarter.
The Tigers led 22-14 until Myles Simmons connected with Trace McManus on a five-yard touchdown pass with 6:16 left in the fourth quarter. But the 2-point conversion run failed and Centreville escaped with the win.
Silliman had 353 yards of total offense and 18 first downs compared to 236 yards of total offense and 10 first downs for Centreville. But the Wildcats had two passes picked off – one by Reynolds and the other by Devon Parrish.
