Trinity celebrates with 46-10 homecoming win over Claiborne Academy

Jakarius Caston and Sterling Yarbrough accounted for six of Trinity Episcopal’s seven touchdowns as the Saints celebrated homecoming with a 46-10 win over the Claiborne Academy Rebels Friday night.

Trinity Episcopal also put a stop to its five-game losing streak and won its MAIS District 3-A opener. Claiborne Academy fell to 3-4 overall and 1-1 in district play.

Caston had two receiving touchdowns from Yarbrough – a 47-yarder nearly midway through the first quarter and a 14-yarder with 26 seconds to go until halftime. Caston also scored on a 66-yard punt return late in the first quarter and a 23-yard interception return with 18 seconds left in the third quarter.

Yarbrough completed 18 of 29 passes for 336 yards and four touchdowns. Yarbrough threw touchdown passes of 26 and 20 yards to Jarred Simpson. Anfernee Thomas scored on a 17-yard run early in the second quarter and was the Saints’ leading rusher with 12 carries for 78 yards.

Reed Anders had a hand and a foot in all of Claiborne Academy’s scoring. He threw a 23-yard touchdown pass to Hayden Johnson and made the extra point with 1:16 remaining until halftime. He also made a 26-yard field goal at the end of the first half.

Trinity Episcopal (2-5, 1-0) plays at Greenville Christian School next Friday at 7 p.m.
