NATCHEZ — Services for Darren LaWayne Williams Sr., 51, of Natchez, who died Sunday, Oct. 8, 2017, at Merit Health Natchez, will be noon Friday at Bright Star Baptist Church with the Rev. Kareem Jones officiating.

Burial will follow at the Vidalia Cemetery under the direction of West Gate Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 5 to 5:45 p.m. today at the funeral home with a celebration of life wake service at 6 p.m. Visitation will continue Friday from 11 a.m. until service time at the church.

Mr. Williams was born May 24, 1966, the son of Edward “Red” Williams and Bertha Lee Broadus Williams.

He was a graduate of Vidalia High School and St. Louis Community College. He was employed by the Natchez-Adams School District as a cafeteria worker and also worked as “Magic Disc Jockey.” Darren was a very kind-hearted person and loved spending time with family and being a disc jockey.

He was preceded in death by his parents; Charles Williams, Archie Williams Sr., Patsy Broadus, Jerome Burton, Roosevelt Miskell and Anna Profit.

Survivors include his fiancée, Bridgette Smith; one son, Darren LaWayne Williams Jr.; two daughters, Fredricka Smith and Raven Smith; seven brothers, Morrel Jones, Edward Miller, Charles Jones, Ernest Broadus, Eric Burton, Reggie Montgomery and Charles Ellis; three sisters, Sharon Moody, Terrance Broadus and Bobbie Gordon; grandparents, Josephine Newman and Dan Broadus; three grandchildren, Brandon Brown, Jayden Neal and Aiden Rogers; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
