The Trinity Episcopal Saints will look for their second consecutive win when they travel to Greenville to take on the Greenville Christian School Saints.
Kickoff between the MAIS Class A Saints and the Class AA Saints from Greenville Christian is set for 7 p.m. Friday.
Both teams stand at 2-5 overall, but each team took different routes to get there after last Friday night’s games. Trinity Episcopal put a halt to a five-game losing streak with a decisive homecoming win over District 3-A opponent Claiborne Academy, 46-10. Sterling Yarbrough threw for 336 yards and four touchdowns. Jakarius Caston had two touchdown receptions, a punt return for a TD and an interception return for a score.
“We played a lot better — very proud of the way they played,” Trinity Episcopal coach Graham Roberts said. “They played with good effort and good intensity, but there were some mistakes we would like to eliminate.”
Greenville Christian, on the other hand, fell at in-city and District 2-AA rival as well as homecoming opponent St. Joseph-Greenville, 56-6.
“They’re extremely athletic — good team speed. They’re going to play us very hard,” Roberts said.
Roberts also said he didn’t think the three-hour trip to Greenville would be a challenge.
“I’m not too concerned. It’s going to be fun,” he said.
