High opinion of sheriff changed

I was disappointed in our sheriff’s office’s handling of a problem we had at our home a couple of weeks ago. I called the sheriff’s office and reported a dog fight in progress next door to our home at 2:30 in the morning. A young deputy was dispatched to our house, and as we stood outside my door, the sounds of dogs fighting and men and women yelling was unmistakable. The deputy said he would “break up their party” and left. After some time, the noise stopped and cars and trucks started leaving and going back toward the main road. We live on a dead-end road. There were probably two dozen vehicles.

When I called the sheriff’s office the next day to inquire about whether any arrests were made, I was told that there was no report made of the incident. After several calls, a senior deputy was sent out to our house, and talked to me.  He told me that the deputy said it was just a drinking party involving some high school kids . Either way, it is a crime to fight dogs and it is a crime to drive drunk, especially if you are under age.

I have always had a high opinion of our sheriff’s office in Adams county, but not anymore.  I don’t feel safe anymore.
