Centreville inches closer to claiming MAIS District 4-AA championship with dominant win

CENTREVILLE — The Centreville Academy Tigers moved one step closer to claiming the MAIS District 4-AA championship with a 46-16 win over the Amite School Center Rebels Friday night.
Stone Reynolds led Centreville’s ground game with 145 yards on 11 carries, including touchdown runs of 26 and 8 yards as well as a 2-point conversion run. Daniel Vine had seven carries for 93 yards with one touchdown and a 2-point conversion run of his own.
Wyatt Brabham scored on a 5-yard run less than two minutes into the game and added a pair of 2-point conversion runs. Brabham had six carries for 75 yards.
As a team, the Tigers (7-2, 2-0) racked up 370 rushing yards, had 19 first downs, did not punt, and were penalized just three times for 35 yards.
Devon Parrish scored on a 7-yard run in the second quarter and Hollis Gunter had a 9-yard touchdown run late in the third quarter.
Amite School Center (4-5, 0-2) got an 18-yard touchdown run from Con Hartzog early in the third quarter and a 7-yard TD run from Alex Luce late in the game. The Rebels had 242 rushing yards, but most of those came in the second half and with the outcome already in hand.
Centreville, winners of six games in a row, will play at Clinton Christian Academy with the district title on the line.
