NATCHEZ — Services for Dennis James Hawkins, 52, of Natchez, who died Saturday, Oct. 7, 2017, in Natchez, will be 3 p.m. Saturday at George F. West Sr. Memorial Chapel at West Gate Funeral Home with the Rev. John Scott Jr. officiating.   

Arrangements are under the direction of West Gate Funeral Home.

Mr. Hawkins was born July 17, 1965, the son of Albert “Buddy” Walker and Josephine Fleming.

Dennis was a 1983 graduate of North Natchez High School. He was a professional chef at Applebee’s Restaurant in Atlanta for more than 20 years.

He was also a member of Mount Pilgrim Baptist Church in Fenwick.

Mr. Hawkins enjoyed reading, writing and dancing — his favorite pastime was cooking.

He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents, Howard Fleming and Mary Mock “Jaint” Fleming; one brother, Arthur Lee Fleming; and one sister, Josie Derice Fleming Ransom.

Survivors include three brothers, Donald Fleming and wife, Rosetta, and Sylvester Fleming, all of Natchez, and Melvin Fleming and wife, Delores, of Atlanta; five sisters, Bobbie Hinson, Nora Sanders and husband, David, and Rebecca Fleming, all of Natchez, Shirley White and husband, Kenneth, of Pine Bluff, Ark., and Mary Foster of Baton Rouge; a very special aunt, Eva Calvin; and a number of other uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
