STAMPLEY — Services for Donald “Butt” James, 65, of Natchez, who died Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2017, in Lake Charles, La., will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Salem Baptist Church in Stampley with the Rev. Isaac Tenner officiating.
Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. today at the funeral home’s Natchez chapel and from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church.
Mr. James was born April 1, 1952, in Natchez, the son of Allen James Stampley and India Felton.
He was a longtime employee of H&H Lumber, Georgia Pacific and Bargain Furniture.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Chiquita Henderson; three sisters, Margaret McGuire, Mary James and Jessie Lee Washington; and two brothers, Al and Hardy James Stampley.
Survivors include his loving wife, Geraldine S. James; one daughter, Chikita Wisham and husband, Derrick, of Baton Rouge; three sisters, Eva Moore and husband, Alfonso, Kit Johnson and Ruby Bibbins; five brothers, Hardy James and wife, Mary, Lee Melvin Stampley and wife, Rosie, James W. Stampey and wife, Lilla, Jimmie James and wife, Carolyn, and Claude James and wife, Mary; two godsisters, Gwen Stampley and Dianne Hall; and a number of other relatives and friends.
