SMITHDALE — Graveside services for Joel Elaine Leigh, 81, of Natchez, who died peacefully in Tallahassee after a short battle with cancer, will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Mount Gilead Primitive Baptist Church in Smithdale.

Arrangements are under the direction of Beggs Funeral Home Apalachee Chapel in Tallahassee, Fla.

Mrs. Leigh was born Dec. 11, 1935, in Franklin County, the daughter of Floyd Ross Spring and Mary Lou Spring.

Joel was a loving mother, grandmother and friend who lived life to its fullest. While her family finds comfort in knowing that she is no longer in pain, they mourn the loss of such an exceptional woman.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her siblings; and her husband, AJ Leigh, also of Natchez.

Survivors include three children, Cynthia Darlene Roberts and husband, Allen, Robert Stacey Allbritton and Carrie Jolene Poole and husband, Andrew; and a number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, friends and extended family.
