NATCHEZ — Adams County Sheriff’s deputies responding to a one-vehicle accident Saturday arrested a Gloster man who was wanted in Hinds County on possession of cocaine.

In addition to the hold for Hinds County, Adams County deputies charged Derrick Dewayne Jackson, 44, 5994-A Mullins Road, with possession of marijuana in a motor vehicle and possession of drug paraphernalia, spokeswoman Lt. Cal Green said.

Deputies responded to the accident on Liberty Road involving a 2004 Mercury Grand Marquis, and after checkingJackson’s driver’s license through the system, deputies realized he was wanted on drug charges.

Jackson was arrested without incident, Green said. Green said Jackson was not injured during the accident, in which he lost control of the vehicle and ran into an embankment.

During the vehicle inventory prior to towing, deputies found what appeared to be marijuana, marijuana seeds, a small white baggie with white residue and a plastic straw.

Jackson was released on a $1,000 bond. Hinds County chose not to enforce their right to hold him because they reported Jackson is undergoing medical treatments.
