NATCHEZ — A memorial service for John D. Smith, 80, of Natchez, who died Sunday, Oct. 22, 2017, in Natchez, will be announced at a later date.

Arrangements are under the direction of Heritage Cremation in Jackson.

Mr. Smith was born Dec. 9, 1936, the son of Malcolm and Adell Smith.

He was employed by Armstrong and Fidelity Tire Company in the tire building department for more than 40 years.

He loved flowers and animals and was known for his kindness. He also enjoyed serving in the U.S. Army in Germany during peace time. He worked in the medical field and did training at Walter Reed Hospital.

Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Dennis Smith and Wayne Smith.

Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Barbara Brown Smith; one son, Christopher Smith and wife, Sheila, of Lutz, Fla.; one granddaughter, Brooke Lauren Smith; two nieces, Jennifer Komarow and husband, Gregory, of Denver and Kelly Smith of Brandon; and three great-nieces, Anastasia Komarow, Hailey Stevens and Mallory Stevens.
