VIDALIA — Services for Major Alexander Sr., 67, of Vidalia, who died Thursday, Oct. 19, 2017, at his residence, will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Zion Baptist Church in Vidalia with the Rev. Dywon Lewis officiating.

Burial will follow at Sunset View Memorial Park Cemetery in Natchez under the direction of Concordia Funeral Home in Ferriday.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Alexander was born Jan. 11, 1950, in Vidalia, the son of Tobe and Rebecca Hawkins Alexander.

He was a retired janitor for the Concordia Parish School System.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Jessie Thompson Alexander; and one son, Mayor Alexander Jr.

Survivors include two sons, LaVan Thompson and wife, Angela, of Natchez, and Dywane Alexander of Orlando, Fla.; three daughters, Casandra Thompson, Angela Foster and husband, Alex, and LaTricia Taylor and husband, Michael, all of Natchez; one godchild, Sekina Hobbs and husband, Dré, of Detroit; one sister, Louella Glover of Oakland, Calif.; one aunt, Ethel Hawkins of Vidalia; 15 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; three sisters-in-law; and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.
