BRENTWOOD, Tenn. — John Ulrich Miller III, of Brentwood, Tenn., died Saturday, Oct. 28, 2017.

A gathering of family and friends will be 4 p.m. Friday at Brentwood Roesch-Patton Funeral Home in Brentwood.   

Mr. Miller was born Dec. 22, 1941, in Natchez, the son of John Ulrich Miller Jr. and Evelyn Rose Whittington Miller.

He was a graduate of Natchez High School and earned his bachelor of science degree from Louisiana State University. He was a member of Delta Kappa Epsilon fraternity. He received his juris doctor degree from University of Mississippi School of Law.

John was the senior real estate attorney for the Nashville district, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and was employed there for 35 years.

The constant thread in his life was rock and roll music and reminiscing about days of playing the drums in his high school band, The Bop Beats, and his college band, Jim Weatherly and The Vegas. In earlier years, John was an avid runner, having completed numerous races. He was also passionate about all LSU sports and enjoyed following Titans football.

John was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Suzanne Miller: one son, John U. Miller IV; one daughter, Kate Miller Toney and husband, Jim; three grandchildren, Ella Whittington Miller, Carson Joseph Toney and Campbell Suzanne Toney; one sister, Evelyn M. Peale and husband, William, of Natchez; one brother, Andrew J. Miller of Natchez; two nephews, Hardy Hill of Madison, and Ivan Nastally of Houston.

Memorial contributions may be made in John’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
