FERRIDAY — After a back-and-forth first quarter and Delta Charter School still down by just one score at halftime, Ouachita Christian School decided to take over in the second half as the Eagles defeated the Storm 47-12 Friday night in a pivotal LHSAA District 2-1A game for both teams.
Delta Charter, the No. 13 team in the Class 1A power ratings, took a 12-6 lead with 3:02 to go in the first quarter, only to seed Ouachita Christian, the No. 10 team in the Division IV power ratings, respond with a touchdown just 50 seconds later to tie the game at 12-12.
The Eagles scored again early in the second quarter to go ahead 18-12 and they managed to keep that lead over the Storm at halftime. A 22-point surge by Ouachita Christian (7-3, 5-2) allowed the visiting team to take command of the game.
With the loss, Delta Charter (5-5, 3-4) will probably drop from that No. 13 spot and the Storm could end up on the road in the first round of the Class 1A Playoffs. The Storm awaits its fate this weekend with the unveiling of the brackets.
