Vote today is important to us all

While today’s special county election may lack the political pizazz of a hotly contested state or national race, the choices on the ballot are serious.
Voters across the county will choose a new county prosecutor.
Voters in the southern portion of the county will choose a new county justice court judge.
And voters in District 5 will elect someone to the county’s election commission.
Based on a relatively small number of absentee ballots cast in the race, local election watcher believe today’s turnout may be lackluster.
We hope that is not the case.
We hope this is the race in which the public is surprised by how many people choose to come out and exercise their right to vote.
As we approach Veterans Day, perhaps more than most times of the year, we should appreciate the men and women who have fought for our freedom and in some cases to help others overthrow dictatorships and enjoy some of their own freedoms.
If you’re registered to vote and have not already voted with an absentee ballot, we urge you to carve out a few minutes of your schedule today, head to the polls and vote for the men or women who will work for you for years to come.
