VIDALIA — Services for Van Clifford Staggs Jr., 92, who died Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2017, at his residence, will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Calvary Baptist Church with Bro. Ron Ledford and Bro. R.V. Mize officiating.
Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Corner Funeral Home.
Mr. Staggs was born on Nov. 3, 1925 to Van Clifford Staggs Sr. and Viola Milam Staggs in Coldwater. He retired after 42 years of service at Armstrong Tire and Rubber Company. He worked for 27 years at Natchez WalMart as a merchandise assembler. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. He loved the Lord and loved to read his Bible. He enjoyed watching old movies, bird watching and reading.
He is preceded in death by his parents; son, Billy Wayne Staggs; granddaughter, Jessica Council; great-granddaughter, Jessie Mairead Council; step-son, Kirby W. Thompson; his first wife, Juanita Seymour Staggs; two sisters; and two brothers.
Survivors include his wife of 30 years, Frankie G. Staggs; daughter, Kathy Rogers and husband Kent; four step-children, Richard L. Thompson and wife Lynn, Victor R. Thompson and wife Melissa, Michael E. Thompson and wife Bridgett, Star T. McKay and husband Kelvin; two grandsons; 13 step-grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and four step-great-grandchildren.
