VIDALIA — Services for Monelle Mullins Moseley, 89, of Vidalia, who died Sunday, Dec.10, 2017, at Merit Health Natchez, will be 11 a.m. Friday at First Baptist Church in Vidalia with the Rev. Dr. Ralph Webber officiating.

Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home and from 9 a.m. until service time Friday at the church.

Monelle was born March 19, 1928, in Meadville, the daughter of Daniel Edgar Mullins and Maggie Belle Buckles Mullins.

She was a charter member of First Baptist Church in Vidalia and taught Sunday school for more than 50 years. She was a member of the Vidalia Garden Club for more than 53 years.

Mrs. Moseley was a member of the Ferriday Rotary Club and served Concordia Parish for more than 51 years, serving as the tax assessor for 36 years. She loved traveling to her assessor conventions.  She was the first woman president of the Louisiana Assessors Association, a member of the Concordia Chamber of Commerce and the Bruin-Vidal Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. In 2016, she was selected as the Concordia Parish Woman of the Year. She also served as grand marshal of the Flotilla and the Vidalia Christmas Parade. Her favorite thing was enjoying the beach with her entire family.

Mrs. Moseley was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Louis C. Moseley Sr.; one son, Louis C. “Charles” Moseley Jr.; one brother, Donald E. Mullins; and one grandson, Daniel C. Moseley.

Survivors include one daughter, Mary Elizabeth “Libbey” Watkins and husband, Alan, of Minden, La.; two sons, William E. “Bill” Moseley and wife, Denise, of Taylor, Ark., and Donald J. Moseley and wife, Darcy, of Lake Charles, La.; four granddaughters, Casaday M. Saunders, Maggie W. McMillian and husband, Jonathan, Emily M. Thevenot and husband, Ross, and Madeline Allen; six grandsons, Case Watkins and wife, Kristin, Lou  Watkins and wife, Ashleigh, Billy Moseley and wife, Tracy, Matthew Moseley and financée, Lori, Jacob Watkins and wife, Emily, and Weston Moseley; 12 great-grandchildren, Hilary, Ava, Ellie, Emma, Trendon, Tristyn, Max, Crew, Hallie, Moseley, Lucy and Ella; and special caregivers, Melissa Tucker and Twana Sewell.

Pallbearers will be grandsons, Case Watkins, Lou Watkins, Jacob Watkins, Billy Moseley, Matthew Moseley, Weston Moseley, Jonathan McMillian and Ross Thevenot.

Honorary pallbearers will be Jamie Saunders, Claire Shields and the rest of the deacons of First Baptist Church in Vidalia and the Faith Sunday school class.

A special thank you to Melissa Tucker and Twana Sewell who were more than caregivers. They were our mom’s best friends and part of our family. We appreciate and love them very much for always caring for and loving on our mother.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church in Vidalia or to a charity of choice.
