NATCHEZ — Services for Edward Turner “Rooney” Cole, 75, of Natchez, who died Saturday, Dec. 9, 2017, at Glenburney Healthcare, will be 10 a.m. Friday at Greater Macedonia Baptist Church with the Rev. Clifton Marvel officiating.

Burial will follow at the Natchez National Cemetery under the direction of Webb/Winfield Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 5 to 6 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Cole was born Feb. 20, 1942, in Jefferson County, the son of Robert and Elizabeth Clark Cole.

He was a graduate of Liddell High School in Jefferson County.

He also served in the U.S. Army for two years and received an honorable discharge.

Late in his life, he publicly confessed his belief in Jesus Christ, was baptized and united with Greater Macedonia Baptist Church under the leadership of the Rev. Clifton Marvel.

Rooney was preceded in death by his parents and older brother, Robert Earl Cole.

Survivors include his long-time companion and caregiver, Daisy Leonard; two sons, Edward Reed and his daughter, Lela Elise Reed, and Michael Reed and wife, Luri, and their daughters, Ava Michelle Reed and Amber Gillespie; two daughters, Tamara Cole and Chinitta Crawford and her children, Tynaja Washington and Dylan Douglas; one sister, Alma Brown and husband, Oswald; two stepbrothers, John Henry Ware and Walter Ware; one stepsister, Claudia Proby; one sister-in-law, Johnnie M. Cole; three nephews, Roosevelt Marsaw Jr., Robert Cole and Oswald Brown; two nieces, Chandra Jones and Elodia Cole; cousins, Naomi Hall, Bessie Leake, Ora Durrow, Ethel McKnight, Bessie Carter, Gregory Green, Helen Thomas, Thelma Fields and Bessie Griffin; grand-nieces, grand-nephews; and a number of other relatives, friends and acquaintances.
