VIDALIA — Services for Clarence P. “King Moody” Powell, 85, of Vidalia, who died Monday, Dec. 11, 2017, at Riverland Medical Center in Ferriday, will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Mount Carmel Baptist Church in Vidalia with the Rev. John Armstrong and the Rev. Raymond Riley Jr. officiating.
Burial will follow at the Vidalia Cemetery under the direction of Concordia Funeral Home in Ferriday.
Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mr. Powell was born June 6, 1932, in Baker, La., the son of Frank and Fina Green Nolden Powell.
He was retired from the City of Vidalia Sanitation Department.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ollie Wells Powell; one daughter, Wanda Gray; his parents; three brothers, Frank Powell, Richard Powell and Samuel Nolden; and two sisters, Anne Webb and Francis Nolden.
Survivors include three sons, Kalpatrick Wells and wife, Daffney, of Vicksburg, Oliver Powell and wife, Kimberly, of Rowlett, Texas, and John Armstrong and wife, Ann, of Kentwood, La.; five daughters, Melissa Dunbar and husband, Louis, Adrea Hinton and husband, Willie, all of Vicksburg, Marlene Bell and husband, Jerome, of Cheltenham, Md., Arlona Morgan and husband, Clarence, of Baker, La., and Raquel Powell of Lanham, Md.; 18 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; one stepsister, Maggie Willliams; and one godsister, Rosie Lee Johnson Stevens, both of Vidalia.
