Pernell Flowers

NATCHEZ — Services for Pernell Flowers, 90, of Natchez, who died Saturday, Dec. 16, 2017 at Promise Rehabilitation Hospital in Vidalia, will be 11 a.m. Monday at the Briarwood Church of Christ with minister Denny Calloway officiating.
There will be a private burial under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of service Monday at the church.
Mr. Flowers was born Nov. 6, 1927, in Woodville, the youngest of 11 children, to Thomas Wesley Flowers and Jessie Netterville Flowers. He was married to Flora Mae Enlow on Aug. 31, 1946, for 61 years until her death in 2007. He then married Yvonne Cothren on December 3, 2015. He served in the U. S. Army during World War II. He also served in the Naval Reserves and was also called up to serve in the Korean War. He was a member of the Church of Christ for over 70 years, where he served many of those years as an elder, Bible class teacher, and song leader. He worked for Armstrong Tire Co. from 1962 until his retirement in 1989.
Mr. Flowers was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Flora Mae, son Jerry Flowers, six brothers and three sisters.
Survivors include his wife, Yvonne Flowers of Natchez; three daughters: Donna Barnette of Marietta, Georgia, Teresa Burnette of Manchester, Tenn., and Charlotte Nettles of Natchez; one son: Randy Johnson of Natchez; 10 grandchildren: Megan Tulle, Tyler Flowers, Jared Burnette, Jake Burnette, Anthony Nettles, Kristi Nettles, Faith Anne Johnson, Hope Johnson, Matt Johnson, and Logan Young; 6 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Willie Andrews of Baton Rouge.
Pallbearers will be Anthony Nettles, Jake Burnette, Ken Burnette, and Bruce Nettles.
