NATCHEZ — Services for Julia Shupe Chapman, 91, of Natchez, who died Sunday, Dec. 17, 2017, surrounded by her family, will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Community Chapel Church of God with the Rev. Bo Swilley officiating.

Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. until service time Wednesday, both at the church.

Mrs. Chapman was born Sept. 23, 1926, in Mayfield, Ky., the only daughter of Fred Glenville Shupe and Annie Eaker Shupe.

She had eight brothers and was affectionately known as “Sister.” She was a devoted wife and mother who focused on her family with unconditional love. She was a member of Community Chapel Church of God and actively participated in prayer ministry and mission work, both locally and globally. Even as she grew older, her prayer ministry remained a focal point of her life as she began each day in fellowship with her Lord and Savior, interceding for others. Many also remember her talent as a floral designer, as he owned and operated a flower shop out of her home.

Mrs. Chapman was preceded in death by her husband, Irvin Carl Chapman; her parents; one son, Fred Glennville Chapman; and eight brothers.

Survivors include one daughter, Millicent Chapman Burke; one son, Michael Carl Chapman; one daughter-in-law, Sharlot Graham Chapman; six grandchildren, Jennifer Chapman Hagan and husband, Tony, Adam Stuart Chapman, Richard James Burke Jr., Anastasia Julia Chapman, David Michael Chapman and Aleksandr Carl Chapman; three great-grandchildren, Christopher Hagan, Ethan Hagan and Charlotte Chapman; and a number of nephews and nieces.

Pallbearers will be Johnny Waycaster, Todd Waycaster, Christopher Hagan, Greg Smith, the Rev. Marcus Archer and the Rev. Marshall Trisler.

Honorary pallbearers will be John Lamar Woodward, Donald Shupe, Ronald Shupe, Richard Burke Sr., Harley Loy and Alex Womack.
