One dead, others injured in afternoon shooting

NATCHEZ — A shooting in the Cloverdale community Thursday has left one person dead, one seriously injured and others sent to the hospital with less serious injuries.
Adams County Sheriff’s Office deputies said late Thursday afternoon that one suspect is in custody.
Deputies responded to calls of a shooting in the Cloverdale community that reportedly resulted in multiple victims, including one death.
Calls of the shooting came in at approximately 2:35 p.m, with three victims suffering gunshot wounds, the sheriff’s office reported.
The incident reportedly began at 490 Lower Woodville Road and ended on Mazique Lane after the suspect reportedly chased a victim to the latter.
The sheriff’s office reported a total of four victims — one who was killed, one seriously injured by a gunshot to the chest, another shot in the leg, and a fourth who suffered a stab wound to the hand.
The victim who was shot in the chest was taken to the emergency room, the sheriff’s office reported.
Deputies are still investigating the case, and the motive of the alleged crime is unknown.
Mazique Lane and Lower Woodville Road are located in the Cloverdale Community off Col. John Pitchford Parkway.
