NATCHEZ — Services for Doris Marie Sanders Rawles, 87, of Natchez, who died Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2018, at Natchez Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center, will be 2 p.m. today at Morgantown Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Edgar Wright officiating.
Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until service time today at the church.
Mrs. Rawles was born Aug. 8, 1930, in Mangham, La., the daughter of Dewey Zachery Sanders and Beatrice Ellen Holyfield Sanders.
She was a Pink Lady at Natchez Regional Medical Center for 18 years. She was a charter member of Morgantown Baptist Church and was a member for more than 50 years. She served as director of GAs for a number of years. She was also a member of the Natchez Chapter No. 75 of Eastern Star for 50 years and served as grand matron.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Avery Milton Rawles Sr.; four brothers, Bobby Joe Sanders, Lavelle Sanders, Wayne Sanders and Eugene Sanders; and one sister, Julia Boyer.
Survivors include four children, Avery Milton Rawles Jr. and wife, Mary Catherine, of Lake St. John, Pam Rawles of Warrior, Ala., Jimmy Glen Rawles and wife, Lisa, of Tomball, Texas, and Robert Earl Rawles of Vidalia; seven grandchildren, Christy Rawles Farmer, Ricky Rhodes, Stacy Rhodes, Kit Bynog, Quinlan Rawles, Anna Reed and Harley Rawles; eight great-grandchildren; three sisters, Melba Bass, Bessie Lee Thomas and Willie Mae Dooley; and three brothers, Billy Sanders, Marvin Sanders and Jerry Sanders.
Pallbearers will be Ryan Farmer, Quinlan Rawles, Joey Bynog, Ricky Thomas, Steve Dooley and Lee Thomas.
