Local roundup: Natchez, Trinity boys make statements

Melvin Myles led Natchez High with a game-high 28 points and Izzy Holmes added 18 points as the Bulldogs rolled to a 72-48 win over the North Pike Jaguars Tuesday night.
The second quarter proved to be the turning point of the game as Natchez High outscored North Pike 24-14 to take a 41-24 halftime advantage. The Bulldogs would eventually finish off the Jaguars in the fourth quarter.
Natchez High (11-3) plays host to MHSAA Region 6-5A opponent Wingfield at 7:30 p.m. Friday.
Trinity Episcopal 77, Rebul Academy 28
NATCHEZ — Cedric Daniels led a balanced scoring attack for Trinity Episcopal with a game-high 16 points as the Saints cruised to a 77-28 win over the Rebul Academy Raiders in MAIS District 4-A action Tuesday night.
E’Daniel Jones and DeSanto Rollins poured in 15 points each and Christian Wright added nine points for the Saints, who took over the game thanks to a 23-3 advantage in the second quarter.
Trinity Episcopal (5-3, 3-0) plays at cross-town rival Adams County Christian School Thursday at 7:30 p.m.
Brookhaven Academy 51, ACCS 34
NATCHEZ — Tate Felder scored 17 points while Cade Brown and Tanner Thurman had 11 points each as the Brookhaven Academy Cougars defeated the ACCS Rebels 51-34 Tuesday night.
The Cougars were only up by eight points on the Rebels at halftime, 21-13, before going on a 14-5 run in the third quarter to open up a 17-point lead.
Josh Day led ACCS with 15 points and Darius Demby chipped in with 10 points. The Rebels (5-5) host Trinity Episcopal at 7:30 p.m. Thursday.
Copiah Academy 66, Cathedral 43
NATCHEZ — Copiah Academy had three players score in double figures. Cathedral had none. And that showed in the final score as the MAIS Class AAAA Colonels beat the Class AAA Green Wave 66-43 Tuesday night.
Dewey Shannon led Copiah Academy with 16 points. Levi Brunt and Jared Little poured in 11 points each. Meanwhile. Cathedral was led by Ty Tobias with nine points and Colby Passman with eight points.
The Green Wave (5-11) plays host to Monterey Friday at 7:30 p.m.
