POLLOCK, La. — Graveside services for Darrell Dean Cox, 73, of Natchez, who died Friday, Jan. 5, 2018, at Merit Health Natchez, will be 2 p.m. Friday at Restland Cemetery near Pollock, La., for close family and friends with the Rev. Fred Summers officiating.
Burial will follow under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon Friday at the funeral home.
Mr. Cox was born Sept. 6, 1944, in Oak Hill, W.Va., the son of the Rev. Curtis Brown Cox and Beatrice Goble Cox.
Mr. Cox was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served in the Vietnam War and was discharged Sept. 6, 1967.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one daughter, Shannon Layne Cox Gorham.
Survivors include his wife of 30 years, Deidre Marie Blackman Cox; two sons, Joseph L. Honnicutt and Jason B. Cox, both of Natchez; one daughter, Krista Marie Cox of Chesapeake, Va.; six grandchildren, Michael Honnicutt, Logan and Morgan Gorham, Meagan and Cameron Cox and Haylee Royston; three great-grandchildren, Macy Gorham, Eli Cater and Brantley Foster Ellis; and a special brother and best friend, Ronnie Gene Cox of Natchez.
