MOBILE, Ala. — Services for Charles Edward Foster of Mobile, Ala., and a native of Natchez, who died unexpectedly Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2018, two days before his 91st birthday, were Saturday, Jan. 13, 2018, at Mobile Memorial Gardens Chapel in Mobile, Ala.

Burial followed at Mobile Memorial Gardens under the direction of Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home.

Mr. Foster was a 1945 graduate of Natchez High School. He served in the U.S. Army immediately following World War II prior to attending Copiah-Lincoln Junior College in Wesson where he met his wife, Julia.

He worked for International Paper Company for 65 years and was a devoted member of Spring Hill Baptist Church since 1977.

Charles was an avid sports fan and continued to golf twice a week even throughout the last year of his life. He was a loving father, grandfather and friend.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents, John and Martha Foster; his wife, Julia Norton Foster; two brothers, Claude and Fred Foster; and a number of dear aunts, uncles and cousins.

Survivors include one son, Bruce Foster and wife, Kim; one daughter, Nancy Arnette and husband, Ted; one granddaughter, Amanda Arnette; seven step-grandchildren; double first cousin, Louis Foster; and nieces, nephews and many friends.

Pallbearers will be Gene Carnathan, Forrest Foster, Maurice Jones, John Gray, Bill Parker and Ed Pickle.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Loper-Parsley Sunday School Class, as well as Bill Bozone, Dave Ellis, Pat Flinn, John Fredericks, Jerry Gottstine, Kenny Hodges, Don Johnson, Dave Longstaff, Randy Holloway, Bob Hudson, Chris Knight, Gil Pierre, David Stringfellow, Derrell Thomas and Dave White.
