LISMORE, La. — Services for Carolyn Beard, 76, of Lismore, La., who died Saturday, Feb. 3, 2018, at her residence, will be 10 a.m. today at Lismore Baptist Church with the Rev. Tony Ganey officiating.

Burial will follow at Warren Cemetery in Lismore under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home.

Mrs. Beard was born April 11, 1941, in New Era, La., the daughter of Millard and Maudel Flaherty.

Carolyn’s world revolved around her children and grandchildren. She was a very humble and selfless person. She was known for her cooking — she could feed 40 people with one cup of rice. Her biscuits and tomato gravy will be missed by all.

Mrs. Beard was preceded in death by her husband, Howard D. “Blount” Beard; her parents; two sisters, Doris Charrier and Maxine Delhoste; and two brothers, Ralph Flaherty and Terry Flaherty.

Survivors include five children, Mark Beard and wife, Janette, Greg Beard and wife, Melissa, Kelvin Beard and wife, Loran, and Kimberly Beard, all of Lismore, and Renee Doughty and husband, Charles Ed, of Parhams, La.; grandson, Patrick Blount Beard who was her heart; 13 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; dear family friend, Toni McHale; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Cody Beard, Beau Beard, Dustin Beard, Chase Tassin, Stacy Cardin, Tony Mitchell, Willie Mitchell and David Whatley.

Honorary pallbearers will be Patrick Beard, Trent Beard, Caden Jarreau and Cameron Dehloste.
