CLAYTON — Services for Kirkland Cornelius Watson, 56, who died Thursday, Jan. 25, 2018, in Jacksonville, Fla., with his family by his side, will be 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Mark Baptist Church in Clayton with the Rev. Michael Smith officiating.

Burial will follow at Zion Hill Baptist Church Cemetery in Ferriday under the direction of Concordia Funeral Home.

Mr. Watson was born May 6, 1961, in Ferriday, the son of Willie Harris and Delores M. Watson.

Kirk was a talented Christian that loved praising his Lord through song and worship. He played Sunday after Sunday until the Lord called him home to play for the heavenly choir.

He was preceded in death by his mother; his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Harrington Watson Sr.; and one aunt, Delcenia Smith.

Survivors include his devoted wife, Elaine Watson; his father and wife, Dorleen, of Clifton, Md.; five sons, Terrence Cook Sr. of Honolulu, Hawaii, Rafael Cook Sr. of Ferriday, Kendall Watkins of Arlington, Texas, Sherrod Whittie of Shreveport, La., and Brandon Whittie Sr. and wife, Tawanna, of Stone Mountain, Ga.; one daughter, Desireé Nash of West Monroe, La.; 27 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one brother, Ronald Wilkerson and wife, Evette; one sister, Sontra Davenport; a special niece, Tysherrica Melancon; one uncle, Harrington Watson Jr. and wife, Darlene; godparents, Estella Williams and Mr. and Mrs. Leon Smith Jr.; mother-in-law, Lucille Cook Coble and husband, Edward; eight brothers-in-law; seven sisters-in-law; and a number of other family, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
