VIDALIA — Services for Bertha Mae Washington, 82, of Vidalia, who died at Our Lady of the Lake Hospital in Baton Rouge, will be 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Stephens Baptist Church in Vidalia with the Rev. Leon Dixon officiating.    

Burial will follow at the Vidalia Cemetery under the direction of Concordia Funeral Home in Ferriday.

Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mrs. Washington was born in Natchez, the daughter of Grant and Annie Williams Simmons.

She was employed by Walmart in Vidalia as a customer greeter. She was also a member of St. Stephens Baptist Church and served on the mother’s board.

Mrs. Washington was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Emile Washington; one son, Michelle Williams; one brother, Renard Simmons; and two sisters, Frankie Myles and Adeline Emery.

Survivors include four daughters, Debbie Simmons and husband, Michael Wiley, Sharon Long, Faye Taylor and husband, Joseph, and Beverly Samuel, all of Vidalia; 12 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
