Rained out: Local baseball, softball games canceled Monday

Many of Monday’s local and area high school baseball and softball games were canceled due to several inches of rain that fell over much of Mississippi and Louisiana in recent days.

Adams County Christian School’s junior varsity and varsity baseball games at Amite School Center in Liberty were cancelled and are not likely to be rescheduled. Vidalia High School’s JV and varsity baseball games at Franklin Parish High School in Winnsboro, La. and Monterey High School’s softball home games against Rapides High School were also rained out.

Additionally, Block High School’s JV and varsity baseball games at Peabody High School in Alexandria, La., were postponed due to unplayable field conditions. The games will now take place on Wednesday, March 21 with the JV game at 4 p.m., followed by the varsity game at 6 p.m. Vidalia softball postponed Monday’s JV and varsity games at Block to Thursday and a varsity doubleheader will now take place at Vidalia starting at 4 p.m.

More rain and thunderstorms are forecast for the Miss-Lou region this afternoon and into the evening that will likely cause schedule changes for Tuesday’s local games.

Scheduled to play are ACCS baseball at home against Porter’s Chapel Academy with the JV game at 4 p.m. and the varsity game at 6 p.m., Cathedral baseball at home against Franklin County High School with the JV game at 5 p.m. and the varsity game at 7 p.m., Vidalia baseball at Family Community Christian School with the JV game at 4 p.m. and the varsity game at 6 p.m., Block baseball at Beekman Charter School, varsity only at 4 p.m. and Monterey softball at Vidalia with the JV game at 4 p.m. and the varsity game at 5:30 p.m.
