VIDALIA — Services for Grady E. Boykin Jr., 65, of Vidalia, who died Tuesday, March 6, 2018, at his residence, will be 11 a.m. Friday at First Baptist Church in Vidalia with the Rev. Wes Faulk officiating.

Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. until service time Friday, both at the church.

Mr. Boykin was born Jan. 28, 1953, in Natchez, the son of Grady E. Boykin Sr. and Lottie Mae Jackson Boykin.

He was a member of First Baptist Church in Vidalia where he loved the fellowship of other members. He was also a member of local bass clubs, Concordia Bass Club and Dixie Bass Club, where he enjoyed the fellowship of other fishermen. He was also a member of the car club, River City Bad Boyz.

He was employed by Johns Manville for 25 years — employed eight years by Bryan’s Marine, where he loved to meet people and sell them boats. He was currently with Major Lawn Service.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Michael Thomas Boykin; and his best friend and fishing partner, Rusty Major.

Survivors include one daughter, Lacy Leigh Boykin Jester and husband, Edward; one granddaughter, Grace Michael Jester, all of Vidalia; stepmother, Sally Boykin; five stepsisters, Roni Gaudet of Lake St. John, Renee Wisner, Johna Verruchi, Verna Russ and husband, Kevin, all of Natchez, and Maria Todd and husband, Rusty, of Houma, La.; two aunts, Dorothy Sellers and Juanita Glass, both of Quitman; and one uncle, Ralph Boykin and wife, Judy, of Quitman.

Pallbearers will be Richard Rhodes, Robbie Roberts, Jeffery Glass, Bill Glass, Steve Glass, Jeff Ames, George Sellers and Jeff Ferguson.

Honorary pallbearers will be Greg Myers, Jimmy Isbell, Mike Hoggatt and the Breakfast Club at Nikki’s Restaurant.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
