Former South Natchez coach dies Sunday

Former South Natchez High School principal and head football coach Ed Reed died early Sunday morning in Biloxi.
He was 89.
Reed coached at many high schools in the South, including South Natchez. In 1981, he led the school to a MHSAA Class AA state title in a 14-0 undefeated season. He also coached South Natchez to win the championship of the old Big 8 Conference in 1980.
Reed served as the head principal at South Natchez from 1974-1979. He was inducted into the Mississippi Coaches Hall of Fame in 1983.
Reed also coached at Central-Tuscaloosa High School from 1982-1992.
In his 40 years of coaching, Reed recorded a record of 277-86-3.
