RAYVILLE, La. — Sara Cockerham had a solid game in the circle and the offense finally got going for Vidalia High School’s softball team over the last half of the Lady Vikings’ 11-0 six-inning win over the Rayville High School Lady Hornets Tuesday afternoon in an LHSAA District 2-2A game.
With Vidalia struggling to put runs on the board over the first three innings, Cockerham made sure that Rayville would stay scoreless. The Lady Vikings led just 2-0 heading into the top of the fourth inning.
That’s when the Lady Vikings would start to pull away as they plated four runs to go up 6-0. They added five runs in the top of the sixth inning for an 11-0 lead.
Cockerham continued to dominate Rayville as she ended up allowing just one hit and struck out seven to offset five walks.
Shelbi Cross went 2-for-2, Angel Kenney was 2-for-4, and Lexi Maynard had a double to lead the Lady Vikings at the plate.
Vidalia (7-11, 1-3) plays at Beekman Charter School at 6:30 p.m. Thursday.
