NATCHEZ — Jefferson Street United Methodist Church makes it possible to contribute to local charities Saturday with its 6th Annual Jefferson Street Market.
The event will be from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.
Event chairman Betsy Mosby said local and visiting vendors and friends are renting booths in order to aid the United Methodist Women’s mission in their support of local charities.
The market is still on, rain or shine, Betsy said, “So, bring your umbrellas.”
Vendors will have a variety of goods including items typically found in garage sales and even handmade Amish crafts.
Natchezian Jeff Upton is bringing a selection of hand-crafted bowls and Millicent Mayo is selling up-cycled furniture.
A concessions stand will allow guests to stay refreshed and fed while shopping.
Coffee will be sold throughout the morning and hamburgers, chips, sweets, homemade brownies and cookies will be sold throughout the afternoon.
Mosby said vendors are working hard to set up at 3 p.m. Friday in order to open up to shoppers at 7 a.m. the following morning.
What began as a small-scale church garage sale has grown into a large community outreach over the past six years, Mosby said.
“It should be a lot of fun. There will be a large number of visitors here because of pilgrimage, she said. “We welcome locals, tourists and anyone to come.”
