NATCHEZ — Graveside services for Samuel L. Floyd, 52, of Natchez, who died Sunday, April 8, 2018, at Merit Health Natchez, will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Natchez National Cemetery with Leon Ragland and Samuel C. Floyd officiating.

Burial will follow under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. until service time Wednesday at the funeral home.

Mr. Floyd was born March 21, 1966, in Leland, the son of Samuel Clay Floyd and Lillie Evon Ragland Floyd.

Mr. Floyd served more than 30 years with the Mississippi Area National Guard with two deployments to Iraq. He earned the Combat Infantryman Badge, Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal among a number of other awards and decorations.

Mr. Floyd was preceded in death by his younger brother, Cecil Floyd.

Survivors include his wife, Amanda Kay Floyd; one son, Clay Floyd and wife, Lyndy, of Natchez; two daughters, Beth Crosby and husband, Audie, and Lillie Kay Floyd, all of Natchez; two grandsons, Logan and Grayson Crosby; his parents of Vidalia; and two nephews, Cody Floyd and wife, Meagan, and Dusty Floyd, all of Natchez.

Pallbearers will be William Barnes, Carl Fuqua, Edward Bourdin, Billy Calcote, Johnny Guice, Andy Yates, Gus Perry and Rusty Anders.

Honorary pallbearers will be Jerry Stroud, Mike Poole, Jimmy Elveston, Gary Nations, A.K. Moore, Herb Cornelius and Maury Andrews.
