RIDGECREST — Services for Doris Ellard Charrier Burns, 70, of Ridgecrest, who died Sunday, April 8, 2018, at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, will be 1 p.m. Friday at Ridgecrest Baptist Church with the Rev. Dennis Baker officiating.
Burial will follow at Pease Cemetery in Larto, La., under the direction of Comer Funeral Home in Ferriday.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. until service time Friday, both at the church.
Mrs. Burns was born Dec. 25, 1947, in Jonesville, the daughter of Claude Ellard and Onolia Bullock Ellard.
Doris was a homemaker and a member of Vidalia Assembly of God, where she was a Sunday school teacher for a number of years. She enjoyed gardening and loved flowers and butterflies. She loved her children and grandchildren with all her heart and will be missed dearly.
Mrs. Burns was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands, Artellis Charrier Sr. and Leon Burns; one son, Matthew Charrier; one granddaughter, Kimberly Charrier; one brother, Walter Ellard; and one sister, Mary Ellard.
Survivors include her husband, Burl Milam; three sons, Artellis “Man” Charrier and wife, Pauline, Kent Charrier and wife, Crystal, and Dusty Burns and wife, India, all of Vidalia; three daughters, Tammy Cloud, Leigh Melinda Stephens and Mary Roland; special daughter, Loretta Ellard of Baton Rouge; eight grandchildren, John Michael, Heather, Brittany, Brooke, Monica, Kelsie, Paitin and Brandon; 14 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; three brothers, JD Ellard, Claude Ellard Jr. and Curtis Ellard; four sisters, DeeDee Hastings, Bertha Bryan, Dorothy “Dot” Carter and Faye Carroll; and a number of nieces, nephews, cousins, other family and friends.
Pallbearers will be Kevin Barnes, Charles Ellard, John Michael Charrier, Aaron Keith, Jeremy Mcelwee, Jeremy Cross and Clint Robinson.
Honorary pallbearers will be Chip Mingee, Eric Miller, Ben Wiley and Doug Wiley.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Home.
