HATTIESBURG — Memorial services for T.J. Byrd, 74, of Hattiesburg, who died Monday, April 30, 2018, at his residence, will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Moore Funeral Home Chapel in Hattiesburg.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until service time Thursday at the funeral home.

Mr. Byrd was born July 10, 1943, the son of Orvis “Doc” and Ola Byrd. He grew up in Lumberton and was a 1967 graduate of Delta State University. He was a retired high school football coach.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Billy Wanda Lueb and Hazel Stewart; and one brother, Dudley Byrd.

Survivors include his wife, Susan Miles Byrd; six children, Tyler James Malke and wife, Jenny, Joel Gregory Byrd and wife, Kasey Rene, and Lisa Taylor Brown, all of Birmingham, Ala., Michael David Brown and wife, Kelli, of Denver, Matthew Reynolds Bayley and wife, Sara, of Sumrall, and Gerald Bayley Jr. and wife, Kate, of Greenwood Lake, N.Y.; 12 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the T.J. Byrd Baseball Scholarship Fund at Delta State University.
