FERRIDAY — Services for Joy Nell Mitchell Dunkley, 84, of Ferriday, who died Monday, May 7, 2018, at her daughter’s residence in Keithville, La., will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Word of Faith Ambassador Outreach in Ferriday with the Rev. Justin Connor officiating.
Burial will be Monday, May 14, 2018, at Friendship Church Cemetery in Grand Cane, La., near Mansfield, La., under the direction of Concordia Funeral Home in Ferriday.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Mount Beulah Baptist Church in Ferriday.
Mrs. Dunkley was born July 26, 1933, in Grand Cane, the daughter of Emerson and Bettye Walker Mitchell.
She was a member of St. James Baptist Church in Ridgecrest, La., and a retired teacher and girls basketball coach at Ferriday High School for Concordia Parish School System for 30 and one-half years.
She was preceded in death by her parents and the father of her children, Shelvy J. Dunkley.
Survivors include two children, Michaelynne D. Franklin and husband, Marcus, of Keithville, and Shelvy Mark Dunkley and wife, Gussie, of Mansfield; one sister-in-law, Elsie Mitchell of Shreveport, La.; two special nieces, Barbara Ann Mitchell of Atlanta, and Debra Edwards of Houston; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and one aunt, Gertrude Long of Longstreet, La.
