NATCHEZ — Services Jerry Alan Hawthorne, 78, Natchez, who died Wednesday, May 9, 2018, will be held at 3:30 p.m. today at Laird Funeral Home Chapel with Bryan Reed officiating.

Visitation will be at 3 p.m. today until the time of service at the funeral home.

Mr. Hawthorne was born Jan. 7, 1940 in Pineville, La., and was a resident of Natchez for more than 70 years. He graduated in 1960 from Natchez High School Mr. Hawthorne attended the University of Southern Mississippi.

He was the life of the party, an avid gardener, master of roux and lover of good conversation. More importantly, he was a devoted son, brother and uncle. Jerry was a devoted caregiver to his mother for 15 years. He was tragically taken from this world and will be missed by many friends and family.

He is preceded in death by his mother, and stepfather, Golden and Walter Doughty, one stepbrother, Walter Doughty Jr. and one stepsister, Carmen Doughty Passgrove.

Survivors include one sister, Patty Hawthorne Allen and husband Donald, of Lexington, Kentucky; one nephew, Arbie Allen and wife, Missy; his nieces, Alicia Allen Chrisholm and husband, Chad, Jamie Allen Bowling and husband, Bobby; one brother-in-law, Andy Pressgrove; one sister-in-law, Lynda Hobdy Doughty; dear friend, Caroline Doughty and many nieces and nephews.

Immediately following the service, a celebration of life will continue at Kenilworth at 207 Auburn Ave.
