Right on the mark: Locals in 4-H compete in district meet

The Adams County 4-H shooting sports team recently competed in the 2018 Southwest District Shooting Invitational at the Mississippi Law Enforcement Academy.

Adams County 4-H had eight members participate and three to advance to the state competition on July 20-21 in West Point.

Will Ray, Kathryn Freeman and Fletcher Mims each qualified for state in the senior division.

Freeman won first place in standard compound archery, senior II with a score of 130 and first place in 10-meter air pistol in junior II with a score of 298. Ray placed fourth in .22 pistol, senior I with a score of 145 and fifth place in .22 rifle with a score of 443. Mims placed third in standard compound archery, senior with a score of 115.

Other competitors at the district event included, Kyla Baskin who placed second in the .22 rifle precision rifle, junior III with a score of 50; Griffin Hootsell placed seventh in standard compound senior I; Elijah Breithaupt placed third in 10 air pistol with a score of 100 and fifth place in 10-meter air rifle, junior II with a score of 53; Sophia Laurent placed first in 10-meter air pistol, junior II with a score of 158; Joshua Breithaupt placed fourth in 10-meter air pistol, junior with a score of 87 and fourth place in 10-meter air rifle with a score of 129.
