ST. JOSEPH — Funeral services for Marion Melton Valentine, 68 of St. Joseph, who died Saturday, May 12, 2018 at Madison Parish Hospital, will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Sunnyside Church with Bro. Jerry Sharp officiating.
Interment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park, under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home-Ferriday.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Tuesday at Sunnyside Church.
Marion Melton Valentine was born on Thursday, April 13, 1950 in Ferriday and passed away Saturday at Madison Parish Hospital. Valentine served in the Army during the Vietnam War. He was a farmer and retired after working several years at Concordia Warehouse. He was a member of Sunnyside Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence Calvin Valentine and Florence Elizabeth Burrough Valentine; three half-brothers, Hollis Carl Valentine, Herbert Harlin Valentine, and Lorence Calvin Vala, Jr.; and a half-sister, Dorris Marie Smith.
Survivors include his wife of 18 years, Shirley Freeman Valentine of St. Joseph; two sons, Christopher Blaine Valentine and wife, Eve, of Monroe, La., and Todd Allen Valentine and wife Jacqueline of Wisner; five step-children, Mary Montepiller and husband Tim, Paula Crozier and husband Darrell, Mitchell Harris and wife Cammie, Sarah Martin Mcaffry and husband Ned and Curtis Martin; brother, John Harlin Valentine and wife Patricia of Vidalia; two sisters, Carolyn Johnson and husband David of Vidalia and Laura Ann Campbell of Vicksburg; 15 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Kevin Skipper, Barry Sharp, John Duncan, Buzz Procell, Lynn Delaney and Paul Addison.
