CONROE, Texas — A memorial service for Mark G. McGrew, 60, of Willis, Texas, who died unexpectedly Thursday morning, May 3, 2018, in Cy-Fair, Texas, will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Conroe Funeral Directors Chapel, 1504 N. Thompson St., in Conroe, with Guy Reneé Tipton officiating.

Mark was born June 20, 1957, in Port Arthur, Texas, the son of James Kennedy “Doc” McGrew and Vivian Phillips McGrew. He was the youngest of three children.

He was a 1979 graduate of Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas, and was a certified safety professional (CSP.)

Mark had a long and successful career in firefighting and hazmat, paramedic, litigation, and health safety environmental, each in an industrial and corporate setting.

Mark was senior HSE manager with Forum Energy Technologies, where he worked with good friend and colleague, Kevin Clothier. He had an inexhaustible work ethic and was highly respected by those with whom he worked. He called everyone he worked with his “good buddy.”

Mark was a passionate man dedicated to his family — always putting them first in his life. He also loved firefighting, sports and sports memorabilia, and a good beer or two (or three) and music.

Mark was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Mike McGrew; and mother-in-law, Ruth Tipton.

Survivors include his wife of 31 years, Dawn Angela Tipton McGrew; three children, Ryan James McGrew and JD, of Dallas, and Shannon Leigh McGrew, NR-Paramedic, of Ocala, Fla.; close nephew, Chip Toliver of Bridge City, Texas; one sister, Pat McGrew of Galveston, Texas; longtime friend and brother-in-law, Guy Reneé Tipton of Lake Charles, La.; and a number of friends and colleagues from Gulf/Chevron, Albis, Baker Hughes and Forum Energy Technologies.

Mark, devoted husband, loving father and lifelong friend, will be deeply and sadly missed.
