Ferriday man charged in car wash assault

Donteale K. Carter, 20, of 417 5th St., Ferriday, was being held Wednesday in the Concordia Parish Jail on a charge of second-degree battery stemming from a May 9 assault at a Ferriday car wash.

Multiple law enforcement agencies are investigating the incident in which a woman was severely injured. The beating was captured on video.

Ferriday Police Investigator Richard Madison said officers were dispatched to a medical facility at 10 p.m. May 9 when a woman arrived with severe, blunt force head trauma after having been beaten at a carwash at the intersection of U.S. 84 and 6th Street.

Madison said he and officer Craig King obtained video footage from the carwash and identified a suspect who was arrested Tuesday.

Madison thanked the Louisiana State Police region 3 investigator and Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy David Hedrick and his staff for helping in the investigation that is ongoing.
