RIDGELAND — Services for the Honorable Edwin Eugene Kerstine, 72, of Madison, who died Sunday, May 20, 2018, will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Parkway Funeral Home Chapel in Ridgeland.

Burial will follow at Cary Cemetery, in Cary, under the direction of Parkway Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time Thursday at the funeral home.

Edwin was born Sept. 27, 1945, in Clarksdale, the son of Isidor and Corinne Kerstine of Clarksdale.

He was a 1963 graduate of Clarksdale-Coahoma High School and received his juris doctor degree from the University of Mississippi.

Edwin was an attorney-at-law and public defender in Natchez for more than 25 years. Later, he moved to Jackson where he continued his law practice and was employed part-time by Baptist Hospital as a medical lab technician. Since 2001, he served as an administrative law judge in the office of hearings and appeals, Social Security Administration.

Edwin was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Ferrell Kerstine; two daughters, Michelle Garner and husband, Eric, of Raleigh, and Carlyn Elenbaas and husband, Jerry, of Natchez; one brother, Richard Kerstine, M.D., and wife, Mona, of Cincinnati; two sisters, Margery Kerstine and Mildred Jones and husband, Sidney, of Claremont, Calif.; six grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Hank Jones, Jeff Kerstine, Jack Warner, Blake Ward, Sam Bass, Eric Garner and Jerry Elenbaas.
