NATCHEZ — Graveside services for Marjorie Sigmon Middleton, 89, of Natchez, who died Wednesday, May 23, 2018, surrounded by her family, will be noon Thursday at Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to noon Thursday at the funeral home.
Arrangements are under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.
Mrs. Middleton was born Feb. 22, 1929, in Augusta, Ga., the daughter of B.O. Sigmon and Ethel K. Sigmon.
She was a graduate of St. Joseph Catholic High School in Natchez. Marjorie, or as many knew her as “Margie” or “Nanny,” was a homemaker, wife, mother and grandmother. Margie was known for her homestyle cooking. You could always find her in the kitchen cooking and surrounded by family and friends. She was married to her husband, Charles E. Middleton Sr., also known as “Papaw,” for 42 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and three sisters, Annie Lou McGehee, Helen S. Sassone and Jackie S. McGraw.
Survivors include three sons, Charles E. Middleton Jr. and wife, Kathy S. Middleton, Harold Glenn Middeton and Sam L. Middleton and wife, Ailean S. Middleton; 13 grandchildren, Todd Middleton, Amanda Parker, Jennifer Payne, Hunter Middleton, Bruce Massey, Clint Middleton, Brandon Wilkinson, Ashley Rush, Morgan Middleton, West Foster, Cameron Willard, Laura Middleton and Rebecca Middleton; 23 great-grandchildren; and former daughter-in-law, Julie Middleton Guenther.
The family extends thanks to Hospice Ministries and The Home Place for all their care, comfort and compassion during this period.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Cathedral School or to a charity of choice.
